Sources and method
Sunrise and sunset: Open-Meteo Historical Weather API, daily sunrise and sunset in UTC for each city's coordinates, 1 January to 31 December 2025 (365 days each, 10,220 values). Fetched on 19 October 2026. Sun times repeat from year to year within about a minute, so 2025 stands in for 2026 by calendar date.
Clock rule: EU summer time runs from the last Sunday of March to the last Sunday of October (Directive 2000/84/EC), so 29 March to 25 October 2026. Standard time offsets come from Open-Meteo's reported offset for each city, minus the one summer hour all of them are on today.
"Dark commute" means the sun is still below the horizon when you leave, or already below it when you get home, using official sunrise and sunset (no twilight allowance). Permanent summer and permanent winter time are what-if settings, not decisions.
