What is your euro still worth?
Pick a year and an amount. This calculator chains official Eurostat consumer price inflation (HICP) to show how much money you would need today to buy the same basket, and how much buying power was lost along the way.

How it works
Each year's annual average HICP rate is chained into a price index: index(year) = index(previous year) x (1 + rate / 100). The amount needed in the end year is the amount x index(end) / index(start). Annual averages smooth out swings within a year, so a comparison between two specific months can differ. This is an educational tool on historical data, not financial advice.
