Each line is one market. Left ranks the number of battery-only cars sold. Right ranks their share of all sales. Follow a line, then move the date.

Same window. Different vehicle definitions.
The period is aligned across markets. Vehicle coverage is not identical: US figures include light-duty pickups and vans; Nepal reports customs imports; New Zealand includes used imports; Mexico omits several manufacturers. The selected market's note travels with every exported row. Sales share describes new activity, not the share of cars already on the road.
- Ember Monthly EV Sales Data, downloaded 28 October 2026. This frozen snapshot includes 44 markets with September 2026 monthly records and complete rolling-year figures. We retain that cohort for all 21 endpoints from January 2025. All 924 records and 3,696 numeric inputs are embedded.
- Original CSV. Count is Ember's rolling 12-month registrations; share is that BEV count divided by the matching all-drivetrain count, recalculated without premature rounding. Monthly counts are included in our export. No missing value becomes zero. No countries or regional totals are added together.
- Methodology and national sources, October 2026. Ember compiles registration authorities, statistics offices and trade associations; some report sales or imports. Battery-only vehicles exclude plug-in and non-plug-in hybrids. Data can be revised.
- Why now: the tracker launched this October. This page is an independent exploration of its open data, licensed CC BY 4.0.
Which 15 markets are outside this September cohort?
The downloaded source contains 59 country/economy series. These 15 do not have the required September monthly and rolling-year observations in this snapshot; they are not treated as zero. Canada and South Africa report quarterly. The source website's headline country count differs from the downloaded file.
Rank 1 is highest. Ties receive the same competition rank. The median gives each of the 44 markets equal weight; it is not a global sales share. Rank-shift lines indicate ordering, not the distance between actual sales or shares.
