Reading the data: Eurostat counts people lodging a first-time asylum application in a month, not decisions or arrivals. Recent months are provisional and countries revise them. Slovenia reports 2,450 for July 2026 after 100 in June, a one-month jump that the dataset does not explain. Hungary reports between 5 and 15 a month. Per-100,000 figures use the population on 1 January 2025.
