CUT LIST / EXACT FIT

Four 600 mm shelves
do not fit a 2400 mm board.

The saw takes a share. Switch it off to see the trap, then plan your own cuts with every piece, blade width and offcut accounted for.

All lengths in mm. Up to 18 individual pieces. Each row can make several identical parts.

Stock & blade

Use the blade's cutting width, not its plate thickness. One Festool blade lists 2.2 mm cutting width and 1.6 mm plate thickness.

This plan reserves one full kerf after every part, even if you could use the existing end for the final piece. End allowance is separate. Measure your own stock and blade.

A text sheet includes every cut and the full material balance.

Would a different board help?

Same parts, same allowances. Fewer boards can still mean buying more material.

How the plan earns its answer

Exact subset dynamic programming explores every subset of your parts. It minimizes the number of boards under this allowance model. Ties keep the final board as empty as possible; it does not optimize all offcut shapes. Calculations use integer tenths of a millimeter. Values with more than one decimal place are rejected.

Each board balances: finished parts + one kerf per part + end allowance + offcut = stock length. Part positions start at zero after the end allowance has been removed. This is a straight-length planner for uniform stock, not sheet nesting or angled joints. A layout is a material plan, not a machine setup.
