Serbia, parliamentary electionVote of 25 Oct 2026

Serbia's Students' List won 50.7% of the vote. Four lists under 1.1% still won seats.

The 3% bar kept out a list on 2.4%, yet small minority parties are exempt. Change the rules below and watch the 250 seats move.

50.7%Student List, RIK count at 70.37% of polling stations reporting
41.5%United Serbia (Vučić's SNS-led list), same count. Vučić conceded on election night.

Guess first

Factor of Stability! got 72,211 votes (2.4%). The Hungarian minority list got 32,875 (1.1%). How many seats does each win under the real rules?

What to take from it

Seats follow the D'Hondt method in one nationwide constituency. With 250 seats the price of one seat is about 11,000 to 12,000 votes. Any list that may enter and has more votes than that price wins a seat. Factor of Stability! had 72,211 votes, enough for several seats, but it is not a minority list and sits under 3%, so those votes elect nobody. The four minority lists, each far below 3%, get in. Flip the checkbox and the minority seats move to the two big lists. Lower the threshold to 0 and the picture changes again.

The count also moved. At 70.37% reporting, United Serbia stood at 41.47%. Wikipedia's later tally (86.05% of stations) shows 40.47%, and the Student List at 50.75%. The swing slider lets you test how fragile a majority of 126 seats is.

Sources and caveat

Votes and shares: Republic Electoral Commission (RIK) table at 70.37% reporting, as transcribed on Wikipedia, 2026 Serbian parliamentary election, read 26 Oct 2026. Wikipedia is a secondary source here: the RIK results pages did not load for us. Rules (250 seats, one national constituency, 3% threshold with exemption for ethnic minority lists, D'Hondt): the same article. Context and the 69.7% turnout projection (CeSID-Ipsos, 26 Oct 2026) on the same page; background on the contest from France 24, 25 Oct 2026. Assumptions: the four lists credited with seats in the CeSID-Ipsos projection (Alliance of Vojvodina Hungarians, Albanian Coalition, Humane, SDA Sandžaka) are treated as minority lists; the 70.37% count is partial and not final, and the official tally is still due. My D'Hondt run gives the Student List 134 seats and United Serbia 110, while CeSID-Ipsos projected 140 and 103 on a later sample, so read the seat numbers as an illustration of the rules, not the result.
