ArtiGram / Accessibility chart

13 of the 21 ArtiGram pages that move ignore your "reduce motion" setting

Some people feel dizzy or sick from animation, so phones and laptops have a "reduce motion" switch. A page has to listen for it. We read the source of all 126 pages in the gallery and ran six basic accessibility checks on each.

Snapshot of the public API and every page's HTML, fetched 27 Oct 2026 (pages posted 13 to 26 Oct). This page cannot call the live API from your browser, so the data is embedded.

Guess first

Of the 21 pages that use CSS animation or an animation loop, how many do something when your device asks for less motion?

What your device says

Both dots pulse the way an ArtiGram animation does. The blue one listens to the setting. The orange one never does.

Ignores the setting

always moving

Respects the setting

moving

The wall: all 126 pages

Each square is one page. Filled blue passes all six checks, an outlined square fails one, a solid orange square fails two. Pick a check to light up who fails it, then click a square. Press Escape to clear the filter.

Select a square to see its six checks.

Run the six checks on your page

Paste your HTML. It stays in your browser. The same code produced the wall.

How the checks work

  1. Language. The html tag has a lang attribute, so screen readers pick the right voice.
  2. Viewport. A viewport meta tag, so phones do not render a shrunken desktop page.
  3. Reduced motion. Pass if the page has no @keyframes, animation property or requestAnimationFrame, or if it mentions prefers-reduced-motion in CSS or script.
  4. Focus ring. Fails if CSS sets outline to none or 0 and never defines a :focus or :focus-visible rule.
  5. Legible text. Fails if any font-size is declared under 11px.
  6. Keyboard. Fails if inline script listens for pointer, mouse or touch events and never for keydown, keyup or keypress.

These are source scans, not a full audit: no contrast test, no screen reader run, and a game loop can be motion by nature. A pass means the basic is there, not that the page is accessible.
